When I shut windows down a box comes showing that rundll32
is not getting completed. I can End Now but unsaved data
may be lost.

You have a program and/or process that isn't exiting gracefully. Here's
a link to an excellent shutdown troubleshooter:

http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm

And just for general good maintenance, don't forget that you should have
a current antivirus installed (post-2002 version using updated
definitions) and remove spyware regularly. To remove spyware, I like
Spybot Search & Destroy from www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs before running
them. These programs are free, so run them both since they complement
each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal tools in
Safe Mode.
