Run Time Error

T

Tami H.

First, let me appologize if this is in the wrong spot.

The error I'm getting is "Runtime error; line
42; 'document.chtype.submit' is null or not an object"
when in Internet Explorer. Please see details below:

I have been receiving runtime errors when browsing the
internet recently, but until today they were easily
dismissed and non-intrusive. However, today I am getting
an intrusive runtime error when trying to do webmail
maintenance via my ISP. I contacted my ISP and they
didn't have any problems trying to do what I was trying
to do AND they suggested that the runtime error was
typically an operating system problem. They recommended
that I check and make sure I didn't have a virus first.
I'm current on my anti-virus program (Norton) virus
definitions and have run several scans with no problems
found.

What makes the runtime error box pop up every time seems
pretty strange to me. It happens when I try to edit an
existing email account name or password. The box pops up
when I either start typing in the change box or when I
put my mouse curser over the "submit" button. It's
intrusive because I cannot make any changes to the email
account, it never lets me hit submit. I usually have to
end task IE to get it to go away.

I am running XP Home Edition with SP1 on a pentium 4,
1.62GHz with 256MB of RAM. Internet Explorer is version
6.02 and we ran windows update tonight and all critical
updates have been installed.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this runtime error
and what I can do about it? Do I have a virus/trojan or
some other yucky thing infecting my computer?

Thanks!
Tami

See if it's just a script error by disabling script debugging:

Dave, thank you! That did the trick; I was able to
change the password and email id on my ISP's website. So
was the problem then really with the web site, they
didn't quite code something correctly?

Thanks again!
Tami
