I have experienced an rpc error similar to the problem
with the msblast worm. Have rurn the removal program and
do not see entries in registry. Cannot use services file
to prevent rpc service from shutting down - rt click on
properties on rpc service does not bring up new drop
down. Have since reloaded windows xp on a new drive.
Can this drive be fixed or mounted as a slave to recover
files?

Thanks -

Number 1 - I assume you are saying that you have removed Blaster and now
still cannot connect to Internet long enough to fix the original problem.
Sorry if this is wrong.

Number 2 - if what I assume is correct, turn your XP firewall ON before
trying to connect to Internet IF Blaster has been removed. Now either update
your virus scanner to the latest and run it or if that machine doesn't have
a virus scanner right now, go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and
download Stinger and run it which will knows and will get rid of about 44 of
the more known virus/trojans etc all in ONE pass.

Number 3 - if you have done that in point 2, now go and install a good virus
scanner or if one is installed and is working, update it and once either of
those are done, do a full scan of your system. There are over 84,000 nasties
that the major programs know right now and you need to make sure that you
dont have something else, too.

.
I'm having this same problem --- and I was never able to
locate Blaster in the first place. Task Manager says it is
not running, and 3 different anti-Blasters say it is not
found in my system. I have used stinger, FixBlast, and
ClnPoza --- and all are calling my computer clean. Help
please!!!
