I had windows 2000 pro installed and the "pro" who
installed the system spelled the name wrong. I corrected
the name in the properties of my computer, but the old
name is still prompted in new installations. How do I
change the registered name at installation after system
has already been installed? Thank you for your time.

It could be entered in several places
run regedit and then go to "find"

enter your name exactly as it was mis-spelled
then search.
then *modify* the entry with your correct spelling

You must change it in the Registry. You should find it as the value named "RegisteredOwner" under this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Hi Ray,

In the registry (regedit is okay for this)
Search for the name spelled wrong
Each instance it shows up, d/c the line item and change it
You might make a note of what you changed in case you misspell
it.
hehe
