Remove Sonic and Sonic Update Manager From XP

Am trying to remove Sonic from XP via "Add-Delete" -- keep
getting message that another installation is already in
progress. Then when I boot-up next time, get pop-up
window from Sonic Update Manager that says "The feature
you are trying to use is on a network resource that is not
available." It aslo makes reference to "SGuard.msi" I do
not want to use Jukebox, web games, IM, chat rooms, etc.,
just simply e-mail and web. I can finally cancel the two
pop-up boxes, but the come back the next time I boot up.
For some reason, I also get a big red "X" across by screen
saver icon in the task bar, and although the saver works,
can not get the icon to stay in the task bar. I'm real
dumb about computers and need help, please. Thanks
