Remove Items from System Trya

Good evening
Is there a simple way to remove an icon from the system tray. I have done
the program uninstall but this annoying QuickTIme icon will not clear when
I reboot.

Hi andy

There are two ways to do this....

1) Disable the program from loading at the time of boot....

To do this, Start > Run > tupe "msconfig" (without the quotes)
In the Window that opens up, navigate to the Startup tab, and uncheck the
box next to the Quicktime porgram (you can identify this from the name of the
program starting with QT or the location, C:\Program Files\Quicktime\). OK
your way out and reboot the system when prompted. When the machine restarts,
check the box that opens up and click OK.

This will prevent the program from loading always and will also remove the
icon in the system tray

2) Right click on the Quicktime icon, go to Preferences using the menu that
opens up and uncheck the option next to "Load at Start"

In most cases, particularly with "well-mannered" applications, it's
usually as simple as opening the undesired program and deselecting the
option to "display icon in the system tray" or to "start when Windows
starts."

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.
