Remote Desktop Disconnected???

I am using remote desktop connection to connect to a server. But doing this
just gives me the "Remote Desktop Disconnected" error message. I am NOT
trying to break into a server to damage it, I just need to know what this
error is all about and how to fix it?

I am not really an expert at programming or servers so I can't cause damage.

You write "I am not really an expert at programming or servers so
I can't cause damage." It's actually the other way round: The less
you know the greater the scope for inadvertent damage . . .

You need to tell us a lot more about your RDP attempts. Are
you trying to do this from inside your network or from the outside?
What command do you use? Have you looked at firewall and / or
router issues? Can you actually log on?

Your message would have had more punch if you
had mentioned that Techinline Remote Desktop
costs $20.00 per month, or $240.00 per annum
per seat. Not exactly low cost . . .

I never said it was unfair, I said that you should have
mentioned the cost in your reply, in particular when
responding to a Remote Desktop question (which costs
nothing at all). If you omit the price then readers might
suspect that your reply is an advertisment for Techinline.

Do you have the rest of the error message?

Few things I can think of offhand:

1) Terminal services is running in Admin mode which only allows 2
connections, and there are 2 "stale" connections which are not timing out
preventing new connections being made.

2) Desktop settings on the server are preventing Remote Desktop from being
able to run

3) Permissions settings are preventing Remote Desltop from being able to run

4) Server is "multihomed"

There are some things you can try on the server here:
