Remote Assistance Problem

I have a Windows XP Home computer at a remote location that is not working
properly. I am trying to get the remote user to set up a remote assistance
request. This computer does not have messenger or Outlook Express
configured, so I am trying to save the assistance request as a file.

When the user clicks on the "Save File" button, the Save As window never
pops up. Eventually, I he gets some Internet Explorer Window that says the
requested program could not start; try again.

HELP!!!! Is there any other simple way to save a remote assistance request?
We are dealing with non-technical people at the remote end.
