I recently built a new computer and tried reloading my
XP home edition onto it. I have win98SSE and am upgrading
over it with XP home. The install is failing at the very
end of completion. ??When reinstalling XP onto another
computer, even though I am the original owner of the
software, do I need a new key-code from Microsoft in
order to complete the reinstall. If so, how or who would
I contact. OR, do I need to buy a new XP disc.
Thanks for your time.

XP media can be installed one time on one machine. As long as you have the
media installed on one machine you're fine. As for the upgrade in question,
I would say its better to do a true clean install using only the XP media
and not putting 98 there first.
