This old man new at trying for help in a public forum.
Posted a problem yesterday and cannot even find that post!

Here is the problem. Got a W32 worm virus version April
6 the day before Norton came out with a definition. I
ended up re-installing Windows XP and now get this message
when I boot up: "Please go to Control Panel to install
and configure components".

I can click OK on this window and all programs work fine.

WHAT CAN I DO TO GET RID OF THIS MESSAGE so that my wife
can get to her E-mail and word processing without having
to have this window pop up?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill D.

Give this a try -

1. open my computer and click on the tools menu and go to folder options,
then click on the view tab and verify that show all files is selected and
that hide extensions for known file types is not selected
2. right click on the c drive and choose open, find autorun.inf. If it is
present, rename the file and then reboot.

See if this corrects the problem.
