Regular reboots after SP2

I have a very annoying and reoccuring problem on my PCs. They reboot and
crash to desktop regularly, usually in games, and within 10 minutes of
loading them. This is not always games though, as Windows has been seen to
crash on internet downloads or even drive-to-drive file copies, or even just
defragging.

I have this on 2 PCs, one of which has had everything replaced apart from
the CPU.
One PC is a fairly old (3 years, with upgrades), and the other has been
rebuilt at least 10 times in the past 2 weeks (I got bored on days off sick),
using XP Pro mostly, but also W2k.
The problems usually start after installing XP SP2, or DirectX 9c.
I've turned off the auto-reboot option option to catch any BSOD info, but
the errors that do get logged are usually that an unknown driver caused it.
There is no BSOD so far, so no STOP info to go on.

Full info here (It's the Everquest 2 tech forum, as EQ2 insists on
installing DirectX 9c):

The first 3 posts are mine, with MSINFO and DXDIAG dumps in them.
This is therefore unavoidable, and I'd like to know which driver is causing
it, if any.

The temperatures are all below 40C, and the power seems OK. This is with 2
HDDs on the new PC, both IDE and SATA.

Totally stumped, but not the only person getting this.

IF anyone's interested, I've reinstalled Windows again, but using XP with SP2
slipstreamed in. No problems so far. So, the answer to the DirectX 9c problem
is to build the PC with SP2 already in. The installer must be flakey, or
installs different files.
