Is there a way to edit the registry of XP, so that all
users will have special admin rights. We have certain
programs that require that the uusers must run, but they
can not if there are not a power user or admin. I do not
want to put every user in as admin.

My predessor did something so that this problem would not
occur when users logged in, but I now have to do new
machines and do not know what registry key must be
changed.

Any ideas?

If you don't know the Registry key that you need to adjust permissions on, then probably not. You can modify the entire registry's permissions.

In Regedit, right click on the relavent branch or key and select Permissions. Click the Advanced button. In the next dialog, highlight the User name or User Group that you want to elevate permissions for. Then click the Edit button. Check off the Full Control box and click Ok. Uncheck the box Inherit from parent the permissions................... Check the box Replace permission entries on all child objects.................... The click Apply and Ok.

You can apply the above to a specific Registry key, or the entire branch of the Registry. However, applying this to an entire branch of the Registry can be a security issue, since Users, by default, do not have write permissions to many parts of the Registry.

I just read a TID that allows you to have a policy where
you can allow all programs to run. If this is
unrestricted then the software that I need to run, should
work. Correct.(310791)
