On an XP Pro SP1 system I installed SP2. I then tried to
install the Recovery Consol to the boot up screen but it
informs me that this is a later version of XP.

Is there an updated version of the recovery consol on the
SP2 CD or downloadable from MS? Do I have to roll bact to
SP1 and install then reinstall SP2?
This is a new development box and I want the recovery
consol avalable.

Hi there, you'll need to slipstream the SP1 WinXP disk with the SP2 update and then
install the Recovery Console from the newly created disk.

Slipstreaming links (choose the method most appropriate or easiest for you).

I ran into the same issue. Microsoft - as usual - not
only did not have a fix, but did not even know the
problem existed.

I made a slip stream version of my WXP PRO CD, using
SP2. Then I re-installed Recovery Console. It worked.

For a slipstreamed SP2 CD you will have to download the
SP2 266 Mb file:
