Recovering WAB and folders

My system crashed and required re-installing XP along with IE and OE. I have a backup (3 weeks old) of the folders and my emails but not the WAB data. I have tried in the past to backup/export the WAB data with no luck. It won't create a .csv file at the last step in the export process. I have 2 questions: 1- How do I re-import the folders with my messageswithout destroying all my brand new email messages?, and, 2- Where is the current WAB located and did the original WAB get overwritten when I re-installed IE/OE? How can I get the export/save process to work on the WAB to protect my address lists in the future?

can answer the second part better.
1. go to tools--options--maintenance--change the location of the store
folder to some other place of yr choice( some other partition). call that
folder "Mail" in that partition so that you won't miss it and delete it by
mistake.( just a suggestion)
2.C:\Documents and Settings\"your profile"\Application
Data\Microsoft\Address Book is the location of yr address book. when you
reloaded it must have been overwritten. just double click your old wab and
select all and copy.then paste into your current wab. i think it should
work.(copy the wab after that and paste it somwhere else( may be in the
"Mail " folder above?) for future use.
3. you can import mail into oe from your old store. there should not be any
problem with file import --messages--select program (microsoft outlook
express 6)-- import mail from an oe6 store directory and browse to the
location where your old store is.
hope this helps.

To export and import your addresses you first open the Address Book. Once
there you can click on File and choose Export. Export it as a WAB file.
Now if you need it do the same but choose Import. Go to where you have the
exported WAB file and import it.

Note this doesn't work if you click on Export from Outlook Express general
page rather than from within the Address Book. It won't give you the WAB
export option. At least my setup won't
