I've just purchased Win XP home ed. recently, regeristed & activated it. I'll be upgrading my HDD in the near furure so I'll need to format it in reinstall the operating system. Will I have to reregister & reactivate my copy of XP so that I can continue receiving on-line updates? or will I receive a message telling me that I'm using pirated software?

Greetings --

You'll naturally have to re-activate WinXP after reinstalling it,
but this shouldn't be a problem. If it's been more than 120 days
since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely
be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been
less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Registration is, as it has always been, entirely voluntary, and
need not be accomplished again.
