Problem with shortcut/Missing shortcut

I burned some excel files to a CD the other day and now they will not work. I
receive a window that says, "problem with shortcut, the item has been changed
or moved, will not work properly." Also says, "fix it or delete it."

Before I deleted my files, I checked to see if the excel files on the CD
worked and they did. What can i do to recover these excel files. I have all
current updates and service packs. Running Windows XP. Thanks

I am afraid you have lost your files. You have burned the shortcut to the
actual excel files which means you did not burn the actual excel file. You
could look in the recycle bin to see if the excel files are still there.

Hi,

WTC is probably right, however to be sure their only shortcuts, look at the
file size of a few files on the CD it's self. What do they show?

thanks. The file size is very small 1kb. Looks like I lost that data. I put
the recovery CD after I burned the excel files... Oh well... Thanks for you
help

Hi,

Sorry you lost them and you're not the first. I prefer Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V so
I know they get copied.
Ctrl + C = Copy
Ctrl + V + Paste
