After installing Windows XP Professional, I had a problem and decided to
re-install. The reinstalled version works well, but now I am given two
choices of Windows when booting. There are also two Windows directories
named Windows1 and Windows2 (not the actual names). There is no real
problem except that this consumes hard disk space and there may be confusion
on the location of directories like My Documents.

Can I delete the non-functioning Windows directory and how can I eliminate
the choices on bootup?

Hi,
Can I delete the non-functioning Windows directory and how can I eliminate
the choices on bootup?

1) Yes, you can delete the non-functioning one.

2) After doing so, click start/run, type msconfig and click ok. Go to the
boot.ini tab, click the button to "check all boot paths", it should offer to
remove the invalid one pointing to the deleted directory.
