Problem with Excel Spell Checker

Most of the time the Excel Spell Checker works perfectly. However, sometimes
the checker points out the spelling mistakes but it does not replace the
incorrectly spelled word with the correctly spelled word even though you
click the Change Button. I think the problem may be caused by there being too
many characters in some of the cells. Is there anything that can be done to
correct this?

I'm using Excel 2003 SP2.
