Hi folks

Still having printing problems. I reloaded the HP software for the
printer that I have
and still get the error below while the software is installing....

Service: Spooller
Manufacturer: Microsoft
Description: Loads files to memory for later printing.
Version: 0.0.0.0.

This service is stopped and needs to be running for installation to
continue.

Any one have an idea what's going on?

Thanks

Bill

Sounds like the Print Spooler service is stopped.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Print Spooler |
Make sure that Startup type is set to Automatic |
Click the Start button to start the service if it isn't
running | Click OK | Close Services

Hi Wesley

I tried what you suggested. When I click the Start button I get the
following error message.....

Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error
1068: The
dependency service or group failed to start.

Hi Bill,

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

The Print Spooler service depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service. Almost *everything* depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service. Make sure that RPC is set to Automatic and running in Services.

There may also be some HP service(s) that the Print Spooler service depends
on.

Also have a look at this...
Why does 'Error 1068 The Dependency Service or Group ...

Tried your suggestion. No. luck.

Status of some services.....

RPC is automatic
RPC(locator) is manual
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager is manual
Remote Access Connection Manager is manual
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager is manual

I tried to start each of those in manual state, but they wouldn't start.

The problem arose when what I thought was a virus on the machine,
I tried to reload the OS from the backup disk that came with the PC
when I purchased it. The computer is now wicked fast, no printer, and no
taskbar at the bottom of the desktop.

Should I try to reload the OS again? I'm ready to buy a new PC at this
point.

Thanks

Bill

Wes,
I have the same problem. I did what you said and restarted the print spooler.
It starts and then it stops again (and again and again)

I get a message "Spooler SubSystem App" problem
Now what??

Hi Lisa,

Uninstall the Printer. Turn off Printer. Do not disconnect. Reboot. Now
reinstall the Printer Drivers and turn on Printer.. Reboot. Check operation
of Printer.
