I have an XP SP1 system that all of a sudden stopped allowing DNS name
resolution in a split tunnel for a private network. While the machine
is connected to the Internet via a wireless connection, and a PPTP
session is spawned (checkbox removed from "use def gateway on remote
network", and I attempt to ping a DNS name for the private network the
PPTP session was established for, there is no name resolution. Not
sure if one of MS new patches messed up IP or not. I've reset IP via
Netsh but that did not fix it. I also removed KB817778 just in case
that was the problem, but still no luck. I have several other
computers with the same OS that operate in this scenario just fine.
Anyone have a clue? It does not really seem to be a rounting problem
as I can ping devices on the private network by IP address. I'm also
being handed down accurate DNS server IPs from the PPTP server.
Anyone having ideas please advise. Thanks!
