Modems vary. My new 56K modem connects at 43 to 46K, my old one was no
better than a 28.8 on the same phone line and ISP.

Greetings --

Dial-up connection speeds are affected more by the quality of the
phone lines and switches between the PC and the ISP than they are by
individual modems. Are you seeing this difference between the two PCs
using the _same_ phone jack and wire?

...yes Bruce, same line[reserved for PC] - all cards
used in same [P4 2.5] new PC - 5 min apart[the time it
takes to pull out the new card and put in old card - have
repeated this process 5 times using 3 new modems [2Models
of Broadxent[Creative] and 1 BestData and always
comparing by returning to Win98 ModemMaster 9250. I'm
new to XP and was hoping it was a Newb error.
