Can someone please help me with this... a few days ago I
started to get lots of pop-ups and my homepage was changed
to another page. (I can't recall to what page.) Anyway, I
went into my control panel, internet options to change my
homepage back. Well, whatever it is that has taken over my
computer has put "restrictions" on changing my homepage
back. Under general, homepage , I cannot enter anything-
it's blocked and the bottons are not available to me. Ok,
so I went into internet options programs tab and there it
says at bottom you can reset internet explorer to the
default home & search pages. I did that. I also, removed
cookies, temp files, got rid of any files created that
day, scanned with adware, spybot, housecall online & AVG.My
homepage is now MSN,I'm still having pop-up problems and I
still have the "restrictions" and have no access to change
my homepage. I'm at wits end. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated! Thank you!

Hi Gina, this page might be of some use to you - I cannot say for certain
whether this is the problem or not but it can't do any harm giving it a go.

First see

Check your system for "hijackware":

Dealing with Hijackware
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#tshoot
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. HijackThis (http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip; [new
URL] ) is the preferred tool to use these days. It will help to both
identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

i have had similar problems on ,y computer (windows xp)i
ended up doin a system restore and it took care of all my
problems. simply go to start menu, all programs,
accessories, system tools, and system restore. then
fallow the wizzard and set your computer back 2 or 3 days
before you started haveing problems. it will reboot and
the problem should be solved.

Thank you all soooo much!!! I ended up d/l something
called cwshredder (Thank you Steevo!) and so far so good!
It also helped to restore the "blockage" I had at general,
homepage.:)
