Playing video clips in Powerpoint 97

I am using MM2 and trying to insert the movies created into a Powerpoint 97 presentation. My problem is that the movies in the WMA format do not play in Powerpoint 97? I then saved the movies in avi format but they still do not play. I then burned the movies to Nero which converts them to dat format, now the first movie plays in the presentation but when you go onto the next slide which has the second movie it does not play.

Any help will be appreciated on this matter.

I would start by testing the Movie Maker file in mplay32.exe (or mplayer.exe, depending on your version of Windows).

I solved the problem by installing Direct X 9 and the SR2 patch for Office 97, now I am able to run different video formats in the Powerpoint 97. It was the installation of Direct X 9 that helped me with the problem
