Hi

It is file that can be used for diagnosing PC crash problems.

Could you please post the Stop Code that accompanies that Blue Screen? With that your problem could be isolated.

Hi,

When does it happen?

As a bit of information, a physical memory dump is when the contents of the
system ram are copied to a *.dmp file. This happens on system failure. The
file can be used to debug the cause of the system failure by a knowledgable
user. There are several types of these files, and which one is being created
depends on your recovery settings. The file is fairly useless to the average
home user that is not familiar with debugging tools.

That it happens or is happening to you is an indication of a system failure.
Why it is happening is another matter. Background information is necessary
for a more complete answer. Please read this, then post back with the
relevant information for further assistance:

It is copying out the current content of RAM to a file, that can then be
used by experts in the code of the program that failed, in debugging it.
Unless you are actively engaged with such a person it is of no use to
you, though the minidumps that can be made are of use to Microsoft if
you agree to send them in, and are on line at the time.

Also you may have the system's 'automatically restart' cutting in. I
suggest that you turn this off: in Control Panel - System - Advanced,
click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section. There uncheck
'automatically restart'. And also change the 'write debugging
information' to (none) and on clicking the Error report button instead,
select to turn off error reporting.

You may now get a Blue screen failure instead, but at least will get
some guidance as to what is happening: let us know the error codes in
the first line, and any program file referred to; also any something.sys
(driver) that may be mentioned at the bottom
