Welcome to our new-format PC Review News and Reviews section. In each edition we'll be getting you up to speed with the latest technology news and reviews from around the world!

Fans of graphics cards have good reason to be excited this week as nVidia unveils 2 of its new graphics GPU's; the GeForceFX 5700 and 5950. But have they really raised the standards for gaming graphics again this time? [H]ard|OCP has the most comprehensive preview out there looking in depth at the 5950, and aren't really impressed.

In other good news this week we've seen the release of OS-X 10.3 from Apple, favourably nicknamed 'Panther', looking more and more like a good alternative to Windows each release, Apple has promised "better navigation" and also said that it would offer "innovations today that will not be seen in any other operating system for years to come". Excited? For only £99 it does seem like a reasonable consideration, however the last version, 'Jaguar', only came out in August of last year so many of the 8.5 million existing users may be reluctant to upgrade again.

In the modding world the hottest topic is the official release of Part 2 of G-gnomes amazing Orac³ Case Project Log at Bit-Tech. Its not been all good news for technology however, this week saw the sad final flight of Concorde, a masterpiece of technology which has sparked many technological developments, the BBC has an article on some of the technology behind Concorde. This week also held fears over an EMP surge knocking out communications satellites and disrupting the power grid due to a 'sun-spot' the size of Jupiter ejecting a cloud of charged gas from the sun. Well this event has now passed with no noticeable disruption, although I could have sworn my light bulb flickered it's hard not to believe Nasa, the space agency that alerted the world to this phenomena, is using more 'creative' language to get people interested in space again. Although no major disruptions were caused by the EMP ejection, apart from my light bulb, it is a reminder of how dependant we are on fragile technology and may spark research into the electromagnetic disruption of electronics.

Speaking of Concorde, it flew right past my window on Thursday :) Brilliant view of it with a sunset in the background! I was cursing not having my digital camera there!
