Hi
I found the following rather strange problem:

I have a numper of powerpoint presentations located on a network
drive. I can happily open, edit and save presentations, but choosing
"Package to cd" makes powerpoint hang. I have to forcefully kill the
programme and the open it again. Obviously it doesn't pack the files.

Now, the solution was found: I save a copy of the talk on a local HDD
and everything works just fine, including "package to CD".

It seem odd to me; it is the first time _ever_ I've experienced any
difference from using a mapped network drive and a local Harddrive
(and I am convinced the should be no difference, except speed. correct
me if I'm wrong.)

Have any of you experienced something similar? Looks like a bug to me.
I've tested with different presentations with the same result (okay 2,
but point stands).

Ivan

Ps. I use (updated) Win2K and Powerpoint version 2003.

Well, I know I can't ever burn files from a network server to a CD without
putting them on my harddrive first. In other words, I can't burn directly
from the server. So it doesn't surprise me that you're seeing this with
Package to CD, too.

Thank you both for the info. I'm surprised to see so many problems
with network drives.
It's even on a FAQ list. Sorry, but I was searching along the "package
to CD" rather than "network" line (doh!)

Yours
Ivan
