I work at a helpdesk and when we get emails we flag the message with a color
so that other people know we are working on it. The problem is there are six
flags and 12 of us any way to add more colors to the flags

Use another column in the Inbox (eg who's doing it) and stuff your name
there. You could then group by that field to find all of your work to do.
Categories field could be used.

Unfortuneately, (and I hope MS is reading these), there is less functionality
in the Beta 2 of 2007 in regards to flags/etc.

In Outlook 2003, I used a system of colored flags (red wast 'hot', yellow
alert, that sort of thing) and then used searched folders to categorize my
inbox.

Now, on upgrading, I see they have colored categories so I thought, fine, I
will change them. Well, there appears to be no way to customize a search
folder to show red/yellow (for example) categories. I cannot set red flags
(these all seem to be reserved for specific phrases (today, tomorrow, for you
attention, etc.).

So, the new categories are fine but give me a way to add that criteria to
the search folders.

I love Outlook 2007 but I am almost ready to roll back to my pre-2007 image
becasue of this issue.

Ok, I guess there is a way to specify category color in search folders but it
just does not seem to work correctly. If I go to the built in seach folder
'Categorized Mail', it always and correctly lists all my categorized mail.
But if I customize a search folder to only show yellow and red for example,
it is hit or miss and clearing a category sometimes removes it from the
search folder sometimes not. To reiterate, the 'Categorized Mail' folder
always udates correctly.

I only want 2 search folders based on categories (Red/Yellow and
Green/Purple) and so using the 'Categorized Mail' folder and grouping is
sufficient for now but please take a peek at this in you normal review
MS...thanks.

Hi ck,

You cannot change the flag colors, as they are for one specific purpose.
What you want to use are the color categories. MS is aware that you
cannot create a search folder based on color categories and this issue
will be fixed.
