Outlook should allow password protection at the folder level.

I have certain folders in Outlook 2000 that I need to secure, whereas in
general I prefer not to have to enter a password every time I get into
Outlook. My suggestion is to allow the persistent password protection of any
Outlook folder.

i.e. If I click on my "Management Related Emails" folder, I want a password
prompt before I can see any emails contained in that folder. Any
non-protected folders would be unaffected.

The benefit is that if I momentarily leave my office, I don't have to lock
down my computer (sign off, enable password-protected screensaver, etc.). I
just have to make sure I'm not in a password-protected folder.

Be aware that this may conflict with your companies mail policies. If those
policies state that the company has a right to monitor your mail (and many
companies do have such a policy), then you are in voliation of said policy
if you do something to prevent that monitoring.

I'm not saying that's the case, but it's something of which one should be
aware.

That's a valid point, but one that shouldn't be governed by Outlook. An easy
way to circumvent such a problem would be for Outlook to store an encrypted
"manager password" which could be configured by the person installing Outlook
