outlook reading pane disabled (grayed out)

In my View pull-down my Reading Pane option is grayed out along with the
Refresh option. How do I get my Reading Pane enabled again?

I have applied XP SP2 to this machine - could this be causing it? I had the
Reading Pane working fine till now.

What folder are you in? What are your View settings?

Certainly not.
 
I am in the Inbox "folder"
View settings are "nav Pane", "Autopreview" and "Toolbar".

Reading pane is working in "Unread", "Deleted" folders.

Got it working by Clicking the preview pane icon in taskbar, but in view
menu it is still grayed out!?

Was Outlook started with the /nopreview switch?
