Outlook 2002 reverses first & last contact names

When I enter a new contact, the first and last names are
reversed in the full name field. This happens whether or
not I use the drop-down name box to enter the name. As
soon as I tab to another field, Outlook changes the order
of the first and last names. The file as field stays
correct with the last name, first name.
Any ideas?

I'd suggest looking at the settings you specified for the Full Name field in
Tools > Options > Preferences > Contact Options...
