Outlook 2000: Why would Find/Advanced Find loop forever w/o finding?

I am using Office 2000 Pro + SP3 on a Windows 2000 Pro + SP4.
When I try to do a search, whether through Find or Advanced Find,
even when I feed as input to search an actual word from an email
that I know to exist, the search would loop forever. This is true even
if I tell it to start to search at the very leaf folder that contains that
very email and no more than ten other emails.

Any idea? Has anybody observed a similar problem?
Is there a known problem in Outlook?
It has been like that from the begining and I have installed it several
times.
(With such a search capability, Google stands a good chance... :) )

Thanks,
David

It's a long shot but your PST (Personal Folders) file could be damaged
resulting in cross-linked issues (A points to B, B points to C, C points
back to A instead of pointing to D as expected). Try running ScanPST.EXE on
your PST file to see if there are any issues like that

Thanks for the tip. I was not aware about ScanPST.
Anyway, I run it and no error was found.

Besides, the problem exist with multiple .PST files
that I have. So the problem is more likely to reside with
Outlook itself or other system related issue.
