Group,

I recently encountered the "blue screen o death"
(0x0000007B). After attempting to recover, I eventually
reformatted "c" and reinstalled the OS. Fortunately I had
most valuable informaton on other partitions. It appears
my hard drive has no problem.
Was this the correct thing to do, or could I have
repaired the Boot.INI file from the recovery console? I
am a novice computer person.
Was this caused by a boot sector virus?

I thank you in advance for your assistance
Paul

"Repairing" c:\boot.ini is unlikely to resolve a BSOD problem.
There are a number of other things that should be tried prior
to a rebuild, e.g.
- Boot into Safe Mode
- Boot into Last Good Configuration
- Remove non-essential adapters
- Disable recently installed drivers or programs

If you want to develop skills in this area, read the posts that
deal with BSODs. There are lots of them, and not all are
resolved to the OP's satisfaction.
