operating system not found

can anyone help me? i am getting ready to send my presario notebood because
i get "operating system not found". have to power on and off several time
then computer boots and runs perfect. i did a fixboot but had messages hard
drive not found. after powering on and off it can but didn't fix the
problem. i was hoping there may be a fix without sending my pc back...

That could be an issue with the MBR, have you tried a fixmbr on the machine
in recovery console?
