Whenever I open up Explorer (C:\Windows\explorer.exe), the right hand frame
(which normally is where the folders and files are displayed), try's to
display a web page at in the frame with this address:
D:\JAW\My%20Documents\Download (My Documents is on my D: drive). But no such
page exists, so I always get a "cannot find server or DSN error" message.
And it doesn't matter if I am connected to the net or not. Even more strange
is that when this happens, if I just click the BACK arrow on the toolbar, I
see all the files and folders like I expect in the default folder that I have
set to open. Again, this happens in ANY invocation of desktop Explorer
(using the run command, using a shortcut, double-clicking on explorer.exe in
the Windows folder, etc.

This problem is driving me nutty. I just loaded this copy of WinXp 2 weeks
ago. I have searched everywhere but can't figure out what is causing desktop
Explorer to do this every time it is opened.

Change the default folder in Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer opens showing the My Documents folder by
default. You can however, change this so that all top level
drives and folders are shown,

Click Start, point to Programs, then Accessories, then right click
Windows Explorer, and click Properties.
Under Target field, which should read
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe,

Thanks but the problem has nothing to do with what folder is being opened. I
have changed the default folder before posting here and it makes no
difference. Explorer keeps trying to open a an address that it thinks is a
web page and there doesn't seem to be any way to remove this bad address from
its memory!
