OL 2003 w/Exchange 2003, Delegate Permissions Problem...

One user in a business group is trying to grant delegate access via
Tools>Options>Permissions tab. He can Add, Remove and check Properties for a
new/existing user but the Permissions button is greyed out.
Everyone else in the same business group can access the Permissions button
(they're all using the same server) - does anyone know if this problem is
related to the security issue discussed in this discussion group, or could it
be something else?

There is no Permissions tab in Tools | Options. Are you referring to Tools | Options | Delegates or the Permissions tab on an individual folder? What permissions does the user want to grant permissions for? Has he tried using the folder's Properties dialog?

You're right Sue - i meant to say Tools|Options|Delegates, and then the
Permissions button.

The user needs to grant delegate access to his Calendar, so that
administrators can schedule meetings and respond to meeting requests on his
behalf. All other users can do this, just not this user for some reason.

So did you try what I suggested and look at the Properties dialog for the Calendar folder?

Yes - the user has now granted Editor access to three other users; as yet,
none of them can access his Calendar...

What happens when they try? It can take a while for permissions to take effect. You might wnat to try again in a couple of hours.

It's the usual "Unable to display the folder..." message. I have already
suggested to the delegates that they wait for a few hours and try again,
especially as it's a connection over a remote link, whoch might take a little
while to update.

Remote link? Are users connecting with Cached Exchange mode and RPC over HTTPS or with a VPN?

Neither - we're using an X400 connection (I guess because we're in a
high-security, financial services business)... It's not something I am
involved in directly; just the client-side.

Let me ask the question a different way: If you look at the Exchange account settings for one of these remote users, is the "Use Cached Exchange mode" box checked? On the Connection tab, what is the type of connection?
