I have exchange 2000(for 4 days) and the boss has outlook 2000 on his
notebook. I see on outlook 2003 how to use folders off line, but what I tried
in outlook 2000 doesn't work and if he is off the network when he tries to
open outlook it locks up. he's very unhappy. Help please.

You need to set him up for offline use in the profile. Tools, Services or
Control panel, mail to access the profile.
