OE6 security issue re:opening e-mails.

Hello

I've only just noticed that OE6 sends a response to the sender of most
e-mails received even if they are not opened beyond clicking to delete.
The traffic log of my firewall shows that most spams do this which is
worrying since they may be sending info gather from data miners.
Is there a method of stopping this happening in OE6?
I have looked but probably don't know what I am looking for.
