It's about the same functionally, to Windows 7 built-in System Image. Not all OEM Windows 7 installations have a working System Image. My Acer laptop, some added backup software, when they installed it, it "broke" all the buttons in the System Image panel. It's since been fixed, once I blew away the Acer OS and installed using a downloaded Windows 7 installer DVD and a license key from the COA sticker on the bottom of the laptop. If for any reason, your System Image is broken (and VSS service is still running), you can try the command line interface. This is an example. See if this program is available (wbadmin). This command, would be backing up a total of four partitions, and storing them on N:\ . wbAdmin start backup -backupTarget:N: -include:D:,F: -allCritical Macrium does both backups, as well as now supports cloning (as of version 5). And it can even resize a partition when it's cloned (implying, it isn't an exact clone, from a definitions point of view). Still, a useful second function, that avoids a bounce off an external disk. It saves a step, if you want to move a partition. Paul
