I just bought a new PC with XP and IE6.
With this, often when I click a link (whatever the site, that doesn't make any difference) I get re-directed to this ntsearch.com sucky nuisance thing I don't want and didn't ask for
How can I get rid of this damn thing?!

Ntsearch is a coolwebsearch variant. CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html will remove it. See: CWS

Thank you very much Don, Barney & Arnold for your advice
I've now installed Spybot SD, which found FORTY things it didn't like the look of (!!!!) and I removed them all
I also installed Sygate Personal Firewall, which is running fine after I spent a little time giving the various things it found, permission / denying permission, to operate

Now I've had a bit of a surf and the ntsearch.com hasn't come up again (thank God, it was a real nuisance) and another problem I was having (pages loading then instantly vanishing) has also gone (touch wood)

I am amazed that three complete strangers took the time to think about and offer advice, and grateful that so far, all is right again with my (brand new!!) computer

It's also amazing how fast (about 1 1/2 weeks) I collected 40 things that most, or all, of which, were insidious, unwanted, stole my privacy and caused problems

Regard
Beva

Thank you very much Barney. Please see my reply to all three of you (shown under Don Arnold).
