"NTLDR is missing" (Help and i will give u Gmail Invite)

anonymous

After i reinstalled my PC last week i started getting

NTLDR is missing
press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

when i boot up the pc without the XP install disk.
However when the disk is in the drive, the pc boots
without any problems. I have tried reinstalling my PC
again to fix this problem but that didnt seem to fix it.

Any ideas??

well if you have just re installed everything, you won't mind doing it
again..... BEFORE you install XP, use fdisk /mbr (from a bootable floppy
command prompt), then format your drive and re install xp. OR if it is as
simple as BIOS setting..... check the BOOT section of the BIOS menu and make
sure your HDD is listed in the boot drive choices....
good luck,

.
Check for a boot virus. Start your machine and go to
www.antivirus.com and click on free scan (pc housecall).

I had this the other day. The harddisk was set to Disk ONE (1), Should have
been ZERO (0)

When that was done, all was fine.

No re-install, no new formatting.

I had Norton AV program and ZA firewall on at all times.
Both were updated and should have detected the virus if it
was present, right?

anyway, i'm reinstalling yet again as the other dude
suggested, (i'm writing this from my 2nd pc) and if it
will not wrk then i will try that.
