Not seeing unread emails in the inbox

XPsp2, Outlook2003 from a exchange server, not running in cached mode. The
problem does not occur all the time but for one particular user a new email
will show in the navigation pane but in the inbox on the right pane it is not
there until you click to another folder and back to the inbox. they have no
filters enabled and no rules enabled. Have tried running outlook.exe
/cleanviews but it does not resolve the issue. I saw a similar post and it
mentioned to check the firewall and if it was enabled. The firewall is turned
off at the workstations. Any ideas?

Do you use the "favorites" view window? I have inbox, unread mail and
several other folders there for easy access. The unread mail folder resides
in the "All Mail Folder" and can be included in the favorites view. Let me
know if this helps or not. Outlook help is good at explaining this, too.

Hi,

No I am not using the favorites view and it does not help to resolve the
issue. I am beginiing to think it has nothing to do with views or rules. I
did some tests and the user has sub folders under inbox and normally does not
leave any email in the inbox. Once they receive them they move it to another
folder. So normally their inbox is completely empty. As a test, I had them
leave a couple items in the inbox and for over a week they did not have the
issue. As soon as they move all emails to other folders or delete them the
see the issue and have to go to another folder and back to the inbox to view
any new emails.
