In My Documents folder, there is no tool bar along the top. There is also no menus ie File, Edit, View etc. We have XP Pro. What can I do to alter this? Within My Documents, when I right click and choose the View option, only the following choices appear: thumbnails, tiles, icons, list and details. The text along the top just reads "My Documents

So are you saying that when you right click the grey area
below the "My Documents" area you don't get the option to
select other tool bars?

Hi, Laceycat.

What happens if you press F11?

That key toggles Full Screen mode - which is NOT the same as a Maximized
window, which is NOT the same as a normal window stretched to fill the
screen.

When I press F11, it brings up a toolbar of sorts but it's not permanent. Next time I go into My Documents, it's not there. What about the menu options along the top, is there a way to edit the registry so that the menus can be accessed, ie file, edit et

Hi, Laceycat.

Is this ONLY in the My Documents window? Or in all folders?

When you see the toolbar, right-click on it. You should get a context menu
that lets you check or uncheck one or more of several choices. There is a
similar menu under View. (As in File, Edit, View, Favorites... NOT the
little Views icon. Yes, I know it's confusing; I didn't design this
screen.) You may have to first uncheck Lock the toolbars. Also, if you are
not signed on as one of the Administrator group, you may need permission
from an Administrator to change these settings.

Hi, It's in all the folders, sorry, including My Documents, My Pictures, even down to My Computer and going into folders in there, there is no way back. The grey bar along the top only has the writing for which that folder relates to, as in if I'm in My Pictures folder, the top bar reads My Pictures then underneath it lists all the jpegs etc in that folder. I now see the menus when I right click along the grey bar and have checked the Menu Bar. But what do I need to do so these are permanently on top every time I go into any folders, and also for the Tool Bar to stay permanently on top. IE has the toolbar and menu choices permanently on top. It's weird how the other folders dont. Very confusing.
