no sound in IE 6

Recently my IE has stopped playing sounds for webpages.
All other sound on the system works except IE. I have
restored all settings, downloaded new plugins, and even
tried reinstalling IE 6. but still, no sound. any
suggestions?? I have all updated drivers for my sound
card and experience no other sound problems. thanks.
