While trying to solve a modem problem on my win98se os system I goofed
up. I have a good modem but it's not listed under the modem Icon. There
is no modem icon and I think I have it listed under the "other device"
tab. I believe it used com 5 but under the ports tab, there is no com
port 5 now.
I thought I had a problem with the driver and read to remove the
device then on restart it would relocate the modem and install a new
driver.
Now I have the PCI card under other devices. I believe Windows sees
the modem and can't seem to find a driver for it. It's a Dell dimension
and I have the resource CD which is supposed to have all the drivers I
need but after searching for a new driver it says "unable to find new
driver"
What did I screw up? Did I disable a port so the modem went to the
"other device" tab.
It's just a 56,000 internal modem. (v.90 PCI datafax winmodem)
Can I give you better information? I have tried the Faq"s and windows
help. I would really apppriciate some help.
