no audio device

I'm getting no audio from my laptop. I can't find the
speaker icon on the taskbar which allows for volume
control. When I open the sounds from the control panel,
it says "no audio device." The only choice for device
under the audio tab is Modem #0 Line Playback. Any ideas?

Go to Device Manager. If it's not listed in there then you need to install
the audio drivers.
