Hi,

I used to have this feature on my XP Pro install that I really liked:
when logged in, if you waited say 10 minutes without touching
anything, it would go into some background mode ( screen would go
blank ), and upon resumption, you'd be forced to enter a login
password to resume your session.

When I reinstalled XP Pro on the same system, this behavior went away.
How can I enable this feature? ( Setting the power settings: system
standby->every 10 minutes actually shut down my computer, and didn't
digest well with my pc--couldn't get it to start back up without
rebooting twice )

Thanks

Isaac

Hello,

Go to start>control panel>display>click screen saver
tab>monitor power>select advanced tab>put a tick/check in
the box next to "prompt for password when computer
resumes from standby".

Thanks Sadie, that worked! The only problem is that when the password
is prompted for, there is no way for the user to select a guest login
instead. So in effect, my machine is totally locked down from anyone
else. What I'd like is for Windows to automatically go to the main
login screen which shows all user accounts after X minutes, after
which any user account can be chosen. It used to be configured this
way, so I know it can be done, I just don't know how...

Thanks again,

Isaac
