I AM TRYING TO INSTALL XP ON A CLEAN SERIAL ATA HARD
DRIVE.
AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND BEING TOLD I DID NOT HAVE A
HARD DRIVE, I MANAGED TO LOAD A SERIAL ATA DRIVER FOR THE
MOTHERBOARD FROM A FLOPPY DISK. I THOUGHT I WAS MAKING
PROGRESS, AS THE INSTALL SEEMED TO BE WORKING. hOWEVER, I
AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT THE FILE SIWINACC.SYS CANNOT BE
FOUND. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS IS?

Sue,

Did the install scream at you like you did at this newsgroup? (All Caps?)

It sounds to me like you either have a defective CD or CD drive. It could
also be a dirty CD (clean with a soft, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth in a
circular motion) or CD drive (use canned air to blow out the interior of the
drive. Also check that the cables for your CD drive are securely fashioned
(remove and reseat them.)
