New to XP - letters blurry!

Hi, Does anyone out there have the same problem as me - that in XP letters,
especially bold, show up all blurry?? People I've talked to tell me I just
need to get used to it, but I find it a major strain on the eyes. I've just
switched from ME which was a pain in a lot of ways but at least there wasn't
this problem.
Incidentally, I've tried going into control panel, appearance and tried both
"standard" and "clear type". Neither does anything.

Do you have an lcd display, if so run it in the native resolution. Also
cleartype has various settings, look here:

Many thanks for the tip. I've tried this and it's improved dramatically,
although not completely. I'll keep fiddling around with it.

You might also wanna check your vga-cable or if you use one of theses dvi to
vga adapters, you might want to get a cable that goes directly from dvi to
vga, worked wonders on my system. Make sure you use a good quality cable.
