Can Messenger conduct a video conversation with a regular video camera?
Messenger sees the image coming in through my video camera. When I invite
someone to a conversation (we both have XP and Messenger 5.0), they do not
receive video. My computer says its sending and I can see what I'm trying
to send in the Picture-in-picture Messenger window. Do I need software that
runs between the camera and Messenger (does it exist) or do I just need to
get a web cam with associated software? Thanks for your help.

I'm 99% sure that if you can see it inside Messenger, then
they should see it too.

I'd guess either your network connection is too slow, or
their end isn't setup correctly somehow. Is there a way
to select a CODEC (COmpressor DECompressor)? It's the way
the image is compressed. There are lots of them around,
so if they don't have the one you're using then they won't
be able to see the image (not even sure if Messenger lets
you choose this or not...but I've seen other video
problems occur because of this).

BTW, isn't there a tab or something that can be closed
where the image is displayed? I assume that's open on
their end...

Thanks for the input. I can't see where a CODEC can be selected. I'm
running on a 3mb broadband connection and the other computer is running at
about the same speed. I'd appreciate any input that anyone can give me.
Thanks again.
