Need to retype login in info after reboot to connect ntwrkd drive

I have a Win XP home PC and a laptop running Win2000 Pro (for work). I
have them networked thru a router and they see each other just fine.
I opened My Computer on XP machine and created a mapped network drive.
Because my laptop is secured I needed to enter my login/password info, which
I did and it connects to it with no problem.
While setting up the mapped drive there is an option to Reconnect at
Logon, which I checked, and also a link to choose the login id/password to
use instead of the pc's default. I added my info needed and again I can
connect to the laptop just fine. However, when I reboot my XP machine, then
try the networked drive, the id/password screen pops up and prompts me for
this info again.
I thought that by adding this during the setup it would not ask for it
in the future but it does. Am I not setting up something correctly? Could
there be a Win2000 Pro setting that is forcing my XP machine to prompt each
time?
Thanks

This is normal behaviour. The only way I've seen to get around it is to
provide explicit credentials in a batch/script file, like

net use v: \\servername\sharename (userpassword) /USER:(username)

Of course, replace the V:, share name, user password and user name with the
correct data (but without parentheses, thanks).

Thanks for the tip. I will check that out when I get a chance. I would just
like to throw this in on the side. I use a form filling program-Roboform-and
I do have it set up to prompt me with the option to fill in the
login/password info each time I open my networked drive. If I wanted I could
set roborm to just fill it in without asking me but then it would do the same
for all website/forms and I would rather permit it manully. But, I still
would like to see if I can get your tip to work.
